Dan McCandless has practiced family law exclusively since 2012. He takes a pragmatic, thoughtful approach to each of his cases, relying on his most important attribute which is his ability to listen to the needs of his clients. This approach has served him well as he continuously strives for the best outcome for each of his clients. Whether they are looking to craft a prenuptial agreement, divide an asset, litigate spousal support or reach an agreement for child custody and visitation, Dan’s approach along with his dynamic background and experience give his clients a marked advantage in family law issues.
Dan has an extensive background in conflict resolution outside of the courtroom and a broad knowledge of accounting. These skillsets allow him to work with his clients to find a common ground to settle their case, but also the tools needed to aggressively litigate each issue if necessary. Moreover, Dan’s accounting background gives him expert insight into the financial status of his clients and the opposing party, which can help expedite case resolution.

Dan serves as an active member of both the State Bar of California and the San Diego Family Law Bar Association. Dan attended Creighton University in Nebraska, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration emphasizing in Finance. After graduating from Creighton, Dan took a position with the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers where he provided tax consulting to Fortune 500 companies for more than five years. Thereafter, Dan furthered his education and earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego, School of Law. Dan worked for a prestigious Family Law firm for a period of three years prior to joining Griffith, Young & Lass, APC as Of Counsel.
